Collections & Creditor/Debtor
Many people can resolve creditor claims in conciliation court, also known as small claims court.  Conciliation courts in Minnesota can hear cases involving amounts up to $7500.  Conciliation courts in Wisconsin can hear cases involving amounts up to $5000.  For creditors who have claims in excess of those amounts, Steve represents them in state district court.

Representation of creditors is available for both consumer and commercial matters on a one-third contingency basis.  To start a case, a retainer agreement is required.  The client is required to pay all costs associated with the claim, including service and filing fees as well as garnishment fees paid to an employer or financial institution.  There may be other costs such as well.

Representation of debtors is available on an hourly basis plus all costs.  A retainer agreement along with a retainer amount is required to start a case.  The amount of the retainer will vary depending upon the size, complexity and the county of jurisdiction of the case.  Other factors may also affect the amount of the retainer.
